OBJECTIVES AND FUNCTIONS OF THE ASSOCIATION

The objectives of the Association include the following:

  1. To develop, encourage, and promote the sport of tennis in the State of Melaka;
  2. To plan and develop athletes, officials, and coaches, and to identify and nurture new talents;
  3. To select athletes to represent the state in tennis competitions at the national level;
  4. To represent the State of Melaka in the sport of tennis;
  5. To affiliate with the national governing body; and
  6. To encourage the development of the sport at the grassroots level through the establishment and/or acceptance of affiliated members within the State of Melaka.

Functions of the Association include the following:

  1. To act as the governing body at the state level for the sport of tennis;
  2. To develop, administer, promote, and manage the sport of tennis in the State of Melaka;
  3. To interpret and implement rules and regulations through the powers, duties, and rights conferred upon this sports body by the national and international parent governing bodies;
  4. To create awareness among members involved regarding the importance of the rules and regulations of the sport of tennis;
  5. To conduct courses, training, athlete development programs, coaching, officiating, and volunteer development;
  6. To organize or assist in the organization of, and to host, tennis competitions at the state, national, and international levels;
  7. To resolve any issues or conflicts involving its members, including officials and office bearers of the Association;
  8. To maintain good relations and good standing with international bodies and sports organizations or agencies at the national level;
  9. To ensure that selection procedures for athletes, officials, coaches, and any persons representing the state in the sport of tennis are transparent and fair;
  10. To ensure that all programs and activities are implemented in accordance with this Constitution and the rules made thereunder;
  11. To ensure that the Constitution and rules of the Association are complied with by all members;
  12. To ensure that activity reports and audited financial accounts for the preceding financial year are prepared;
  13. To ensure that any charitable or business activities undertaken to increase the Association’s funds do not contravene the laws of the country; and
  14. To ensure that all profits obtained by the Association through any business or investment are used solely to enhance, develop, and carry out the objectives and goals of the Association. Notwithstanding the above, this provision shall not prevent the payment of salaries or expenses to members or employees of the Association. The Association may also establish business entities and may own property, provided that all profits are credited to the Association’s Financial Fund.
